Project launch
Welcome to Gestambo
We are publicly opening up the project we have been quietly building for months: a cloud-based all-in-one platform for dairy farms, designed by people who know the field, for people who work the field.
For months we have been quietly working on a new system for dairy farms. Today we open the curtain.
This blog will be the place where we share what we are doing, what decisions we make and why, what we are learning from conversations with producers, and, when the time comes, when the pilot program starts.
Why we are doing this
For years, dairy producers have lived with a system that did the job but did not keep pace with time. The Visual Basic 6 Gestambo was a huge step forward back in the day: it integrated production, reproduction, agriculture, and accounting in a single application. But today that system carries fifteen years of weight on its back: it only runs on Windows, the data lives on one PC at the dairy, the reports rely on proprietary technology no one maintains anymore.
Meanwhile, producers solve things in spreadsheets, notebooks, and WhatsApp because the system does not reach where the day-to-day actually happens.
It is time to change that.
What we are building
An all-in-one cloud system, accessible from any browser, multi-establishment, with the technical quality of a global SaaS and the operational knowledge of Argentine and Uruguayan dairy farming. No installs, no in-house servers, with backed-up data available from the field, the office, or home.
We are going to cover the whole system:
- Livestock and reproduction, with a complete profile for every cow, events, reproductive phases, and actionable alerts.
- Milk sales with a configurable per-creamery pricing engine, reconciled advances, and transparent monthly closing.
- Accounting with entries, VAT, IIBB, payroll, sharecropper, and books for the accountant.
- Field with georeferenced paddocks, grazing, diets, and fuels.
- Integrations with AFIP, SENASA, milking sensors, banks, and more.
How we are doing it
We are not rewriting the old system: we are rebuilding it from scratch, with current technology and validating every decision with real producers. Before writing a single line of product code, we spent months thoroughly documenting the old system, understanding its business rules, identifying which features are actually used and which were dead weight, and sketching out the architecture of the new system.
This gives us a solid foundation to build something that is, at the same time, modern and familiar to producers coming from the old system.
What is next
In the coming weeks we will start sharing concrete progress: screens, design decisions, news about the pilot program. If you want to be notified when we publish new things, subscribe to the newsletter at the bottom of every page or write to us directly.
And if you own a dairy farm, advise producers, or are just curious, do not hesitate to write to us. One of the things we are enjoying the most in this phase is listening to people from the field. Every conversation helps us build a better product.
Welcome to Gestambo.
